Ashley Burns
Division: Intermediate II
Year: Freshman
Major: Agriculture, Animal Science concentration. Minor in Sustainability
From: Georgetown, KY
About me: I've loved horses for as long as I can remember. My parents bought me my first horse, a fifteen year old mustang gelding named Shiloh, when I was five. Up until about five years ago the majority of my riding consisted of riding around in the corral on my two other half broke horses. When my dad got remarried to my stepmom, I fell in love with a horse that she was training for a friend of hers- a six year old off the track Quarter horse mare named Smash. I now own Smash and we have dabbled in everything from western pleasure to rodeo. My senior year of high school I competed in barrel racing, pole bending, and goat tying in KY high school rodeo. I joined the team in order to expand my horizons- the idea of getting to ride a new horse every single day was very exciting to me! I hope to move towards Texas or Oklahoma and to continue to compete in barrel racing. I'd love to qualify for the RFD's American rodeo in a few years!
